General Information
Outside Software SRL (referred to hereinafter as “SelectPdf”, “we”, “us” or “our”), maker of certain software products (namely “SelectPdf Library for .NET” and “SelectPdf Online API”), is committed to protecting the privacy of those individuals who visit our websites and register to use our products and services. This policy describes our privacy practices and how we use and collect the personal information that you share with us when browsing our websites and/or registering for our products.
Information Gathering and Usage
We collect the e-mail addresses of those who communicate with us via e-mail, aggregate information on what pages consumers access or visit, and information volunteered by the consumer (such as survey information and/or site registrations). The information we collect is used to improve the content of our web pages and the quality of our service. We seek to provide you with choices in how and when your personal information is shared, and as such, we will not share or sell your personal information to other organizations for commercial purposes, except to provide products or services you've requested, or when we have your permission. You may exercise your choice to have disclosure of personal data limited by contacting us at support@selectpdf.com.
When you register for our products, we ask for information such as your name, company name and email address. We use the collected information for the following general purposes: products and services provision, identification and authentication, services improvement, contact, marketing (as described below) and research. Any of the accounts you create with us may be updated or deleted by contacting us at support@selectpdf.com.
Your rights under the GDPR
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, your personal data is protected by the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679, the “GDPR”) and the UK GDPR. This section summarises the legal bases on which we process your data, how long we retain it, the rights you have, and how to exercise them.
Legal basis for processing
We process personal data on the following legal bases under GDPR Article 6:
- Contract performance (Art 6(1)(b)) — processing your account information, license-key issuance, and providing the products you have purchased or subscribed to.
- Legitimate interest (Art 6(1)(f)) — improving our services, security and abuse prevention, responding to support requests, and aggregated analytics that do not identify individual users.
- Consent (Art 6(1)(a)) — marketing communications you have explicitly opted into, and any non-essential cookies.
- Legal obligation (Art 6(1)(c)) — tax and accounting records, and responding to lawful requests from public authorities.
How long we keep your data
We retain account and order information for as long as your account is active. After account termination, we retain billing and order records for up to 10 years as required by Romanian tax and accounting law. Conversion data sent to the SelectPdf Online API is not retained — input and output documents are discarded immediately after the conversion completes. Support emails are retained for up to 5 years from the last interaction so we can recognise return enquiries.
Your rights
You have the following rights with respect to your personal data:
- Access (Art 15) — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification (Art 16) — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erasure (Art 17) — ask us to delete your data, subject to retention obligations.
- Restriction (Art 18) — ask us to limit how we process your data.
- Portability (Art 20) — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format and transmit it to another controller.
- Objection (Art 21) — object to processing based on legitimate interest.
- Withdraw consent (Art 7) — where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
- Not be subject to automated decision-making (Art 22) — we do not use your data for automated decision-making that produces legal effects concerning you.
To exercise any of these rights, email support@selectpdf.com. We will respond within 30 days as required by GDPR Article 12(3). If your personal information was submitted to us by another party (for example, an organisation that purchased a licence on your behalf), you may also request access, correction or deletion by contacting that party directly.
Right to lodge a complaint
If you believe we have processed your personal data in breach of the GDPR, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The Romanian National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing (ANSPDCP) is reachable at https://www.dataprotection.ro/. EU residents may also complain to their local supervisory authority. UK residents may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at https://ico.org.uk/.
Children's privacy
Our products and websites are not directed to children under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at support@selectpdf.com and we will delete the data without undue delay.
Data Protection Officer
Outside Software SRL has not appointed a designated Data Protection Officer (DPO) as our processing activities do not meet the thresholds set out in GDPR Article 37 — we do not carry out large-scale monitoring of public areas, large-scale processing of special-category data, or public-authority processing. Privacy queries should be directed to support@selectpdf.com.
Remarketing
We use Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising (Bing) to show ads to people who have previously visited our website. These services set cookies (in the Targeting category above) only after you consent. We do not collect information that personally identifies you through these remarketing systems; they are used to measure our advertising campaigns and to continue marketing our services to people who have shown interest in them.
You can opt out at any time by disabling the Targeting category in our cookie banner, or through the providers directly: Google via Google Ads Settings, Microsoft via the Microsoft ad settings page, your browser settings, or the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page. For any questions you may contact us at support@selectpdf.com.
