PdfSecurityManagerPrepareExternalSignature(IListByte, String) Method |
Prepares the PDF document for a signature produced later, outside this call: the document is given a
signature field with an empty, reserved signature, and the request to be signed is returned.
Namespace: SelectPdf.UniversalAssembly: SelectPdf.Universal (in SelectPdf.Universal.dll) Version: 26.5
Syntaxpublic PdfExternalSigningRequest PrepareExternalSignature(
IList<byte[]> certificates,
string signatureName
)
Public Function PrepareExternalSignature (
certificates As IList(Of Byte()),
signatureName As String
) As PdfExternalSigningRequest
Parameters
- certificates IListByte
- The certificates of the signer, each DER-encoded: the signing certificate
first, then the certificates of its issuers.
- signatureName String
- The name of the signature field; it identifies the signature when it is
completed. An empty signature field of that name that the document already has is used.
Return Value
PdfExternalSigningRequestThe request to be signed with the signing certificate's private key.
Remarks
Use it when the signature value cannot be produced while the document is saved - a remote signing
service where the signer approves on another device, or a smart card in a user's browser. Save the
prepared document with Save(String), have the request signed, then call
CompleteExternalSignature(String, String, String, IListByte, PdfSignatureDigest, Byte)
with the same certificates and DigestAlgorithm to write the signature value into it.
The two steps can run in different processes.
The prepared document must be saved as it is: after this call, changes made through this manager
are refused. EnableLtv and a time-stamp authority are not available in this mode.
